A new direction for Coleman
Collieries
The Coleman Collieries property, a 300-acre piece of land
adjacent to Bushtown and downtown Coleman, is heading into yet another
chapter in its long history.
Quad Squad opens new office in Coleman
When the Crowsnest Pass Quad Squad received the funding to create
a new office space, they did it up right. On Friday, October 12, they
showed it off to the community at an open house event to celebrate the
new building.
A Fragile
Lens
By the time you read this the municipal election results will be in,
counted, revealed, scrutinized, cheered for or wept over as different
people see fit, and basically done like dinner.
Looking Back
I’d like to revisit the Spanish Civil War story I
delved into in my last article so as to share a couple of significant
writings I came across in researching this somewhat lost piece of
history. The first has to do with the famous Dr. Norman Bethune whom I
mentioned as being responsible for setting up the first mobile
transfusion unit in Spain during this awful war. He had noticed that the
mortality rate was extremely high, not because of lethal wounds but due
to the lack of blood transfusions to the wounded.
People of the Valley
In nearly 15 years of life in the Crowsnest Pass, Joey Ambrosi has been a major contributor to sports and
recreation in the community. His activities in the Pass remain varied
and interesting, and he is one of many community volunteers whose
praises are not sung often enough.
