I
don’t like hospitals
Before I got sick in
November, I had little experience in my life with doctors or hospitals.
Suddenly I found myself in the hospital with pneumonia and spent a few
days meeting doctors, nurses and staff on less than a social level. It
was my first extended stay in such an institution and the experience
will follow me to my grave. It was the first time I faced one of my
nemeses, needles, and before I was released from the hospital I
considered myself an amateur expert on the subject.
Now that I’m back in the office I wish to
tell everyone who will listen that this community has the very best
hospital and staff in this nation. Our hospital is sparkling clean and
staffed by dedicated professionals on all levels of service. I believe I
speak with experience, having driven ambulances in Southern Alberta for
over four years.
Looking back over many years, it was the
first time that I was absent from work and someone else filled in for me
at the Herald office. I can’t thank the Pass Herald staff enough for
working so hard and being so dedicated in keeping this newspaper up and
running. Thanks a trillion. A special thanks to Gail the publisher, for
her tremendous efforts in making sure our readers received their copy of
this paper on time. Her efforts were outstanding, considering she has a
sister who was gravely ill at the time and her own health was giving her
problems.
I must also thank Willy and Lisa for
stepping in and shouldering additional responsibilities during my leave
of absence.
I hope most of my health problems are over
for the foreseeable future and I will be allowed to serve you once again
as editor.
At least that’s the way I see it. |
