This Sunday November 11, the residents of
the Crowsnest Pass will be celebrating Remembrance Day in honour of our
veterans who have fought and served this country with distinction in
peace and war.
As Canadians, we are thankful for the many
sacrifices our young men and women have made as members of our armed
forces, in protecting this wonderful and free country. Their tours of
duty during the Boer War, World War I, World War II, The Korean War, The
Gulf War and as Peacekeepers has been costly in terms of personal
sacrifices.
Our reputation among peace loving nations
has never been higher than it is today, which demonstrates the respect
this nation has earned in a world full of conflicts and wars. The
Crowsnest Pass has established the reputation of a close knit community
that turns out in force to pay our due respects on this sacred day in
our history, 'Remembrance Day'.
Check out this issue of the Herald for
times, places and locations organized for November 11. Like I said
before, the Crowsnest Pass takes a back seat to no other community when
we fulfill the sacred statement, 'Lest we forget.'
At least that's the way I see it.
